Chemical Spill (Guardian post)

Is it snow? We look into the mysterious white powder left over cars near a soap factory

Anyone who lives in Warrington will know about the huge blue soap factory in town known as Unilever.
This monster of a building has been standing for years and seems harmless enough, the fact that it makes soap products suggests it's not going to smell, and it's not known for black smog or any kind of disruption.
So imagine my shock when I woke up on the morning of 19th of May to white chemicals covering my car, and not just a small amount, it looked like someone had thrown paint over my car.
I thought it was only my car at first and that someone was perhaps angry with me (I have no reason to believe this but I was thinking it). Having looked around I soon realized the whole street was covered in this white chemical powder of sorts, even the bins were white on the lids.
