Best Christmas film? It's a Wonderful Life? Or Jingle All The Way

When it comes to the very best of the many Christmas films, It's a Wonderful Life is often top of the list, and Jingle All The Way? Well low ratings would suggest it's the opposite end of the scale and a terrible film all round.
While it doesn't offer a mind blowing story and anything in the film that remotely happens that you could take seriously, it's undoubtedly become somewhat of a cult classic as the years go on.
Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't going to win any Oscars for his performance but maybe he'll win fans over in this family fun outing.
Subtracting the negative aspects of the film will leave you with a great holiday film filled with silly humour, memorable characters and a simple story that works well enough. It doesn't try to be something it's not, its never a top tier film, it's just a Christmas escape that will keep you laughing.
While it's fairly obvious that Arnold can't do comedy like many other actors born for the role (Jim Carrey anyone). He undoubtedly has fun with the role, even if his comedic timing is a little off, and his 'laugh' is as fake as they come really. It's not a film to draw you in and make you believe any of it, you are as much laughing at Arnold's character as you are laughing along with him anytime he comes out with one liners that either hit or miss the mark.
It's plainly obvious then that he was used as this films Protagonist to bring in the audience, his name alone is the selling point. By this point in his career Arnold was already huge, having starred in Conan, Terminator, Predator and Twins.
Sometimes it's the little things that can make or break a film, to divide it from the utterly terrible to the passable, laugh anyway attitude. There are so many actors in this film that you will recognise (The Big Show, Jim Belushi etc) even Tom Hank's wife Rita Wilson plays Howard's wife in the film. Let's not forget young Jake Lloyd who famously went on to play Annakin Skywalker in Star Wars.
