Hot Fuzz is still a masterpiece...

15 years later..

In 2007 Edgar Wright released Hot Fuzz, and the world was immediately a better place.
London police officer Nicholas Angel moves from the Met Police to the small village of Sandford. Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) is part of the Sandford police and becomes Angel's partner. The collaboration between these two is comedy genius and again combined with the brilliance of director Edgar Wright. This is the second film in the 'cornetto' trilogy, which includes Shawn of the Dead and The World's End.

The cast is fantastic and has a lot of familiar faces from Shawn of the dead. Martin Freeman, Bill Nighy and Steve Coogan also star as police officers, and also ex bond star Timothy Dalton plays local store manager Simon Skinner. Famously known for his role as Bond during the 80's and saving the world, this time he plays a the villainous role and plays it well.

Nicholas Angel must uncover the truth behind a chain of murders which are suspiciously linked, and avoid becoming the next victim himself. The town of Sandford has many secrets which Angel must try to uncover, with the help of best friend Danny.
The action is brilliant with a shoot out in the heart of Sandford, and elderly locals equipped with shotguns and sniper rifles. It's hilarious and ruthless at the same time.

It goes to show that films on a low budget (Hot Fuzz had a budget of £12-16 million) can be successful without the need for CGI and such. On this small budget Hot Fuzz still made around £80 million and is regarded as a huge success.

It really shows how low budget films can be successful, and everyone needs to watch this.

7/10
