Things that date the Austin Powers trilogy
1) Its a hard knock life..
This reference was dated in 2002 nevermind 2022. The original was featured in the soundtrack for Annie (1982).
2) Ozzy Osbourne
Its been a while since the MTV stars have been on TV. MTV thrived in the early 00's with the likes of The Osbournes and Jackass.
3) The general dry humour and wit
As funny as Austin Powers is there are many scenes that are cringy and don't quite hit the mark today as they did 20 years ago...
Things that hold up well
1) Originality
The wild dancing montages of Austin are still very humourous and there hasn't really been anything like it since. The soundtrack in general is one of the best parts of the film.
2) Not taking itself too serious
Austin Powers has never been accused of realism but we still enjoy the movies, and the comedic brilliance of Mike Myers in general.
3) Laughs
The difference between films 20 odd years ago and now is crazy when you think of what Austin Powers was. Weight jokes, race jokes and more didn't matter, it was ultimately fun.
